About the position

FlexStaff is seeking a Certified Professional Coder for our client, a medical administration practice, located in Westchester, NY. This position offers a hybrid work schedule with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote. The role involves reviewing clinical documentation to accurately assign CPT and ICD-10 codes for anesthesia services.

Responsibilities

  • Review handwritten and electronic anesthesia records to determine procedures and diagnoses
  • Assign accurate CPT and ICD-10 codes in accordance with current guidelines
  • Post charges and ensure compliance with payer and regulatory requirements
  • Reconcile posted charges against operating room schedules
  • Identify and research anesthesia time discrepancies; escalate complex issues as needed
  • Maintain coding accuracy and meet daily productivity targets
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams to resolve coding questions
  • Adhere to all HIPAA and compliance standards

Requirements

  • Current CPC (AAPC) or CCS (AHIMA) certification required
  • 2+ years of professional experience, preferably with anesthesia and/or surgical coding
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and coding guidelines
  • Experience with EPIC preferred
