We are seeking an editor to work on a freelance, as-needed basis. You will edit book projects for publication, ensuring all manuscripts receive careful attention and are returned with polished, error-free work that reflects high professional standards.
This is a fully remote role. Communication between you and the publishing team will be handled primarily through email, phone calls, and computer-based tools. You may work closely with multiple departments, including marketing, creative services, and production.
What you'll do
You will edit a variety of book titles across different genres, including nonfiction and commercial fiction, typically ranging from 10,000 words and up. Your responsibilities will include:
• Correcting grammar, spelling, and punctuation while preserving the author's unique voice• Maintaining consistency throughout manuscripts—ensuring character details, plot elements, and factual information remain accurate from beginning to end• Attention to detail that directly contributes to readers' enjoyment of the published work• Supporting in-house editors by managing multiple projects simultaneously
What we're looking for
You should be organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects at once. Strong reading and writing skills are essential, as is the ability to communicate clearly and work independently. We're looking for someone who is proactive, self-motivated, and enjoys working with literature.
Prior editing experience is helpful but not required—we welcome applicants eager to develop their editing skills. Full training will be provided to set you up for success.
Rate:Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
