Position Overview
Caption Consulting is seeking an experienced contract Captionist to provide remote real-time captioning for a college-level Korean language course during the Fall semester.
This is a remote, contract position supporting bi-weekly scheduled classes throughout the Fall semester. The captionist will provide high-quality, real-time captions using English and Romanized Korean to ensure accurate communication access for a d/Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing college student.
Responsibilities
Provide accurate, real-time captioning during live remote college classes.
Caption spoken Korean using accepted Romanized Korean spelling conventions, along with English as appropriate.
Produce accurate class transcripts following each session.
Maintain high standards for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and terminology.
Follow Caption Consulting's standards for professionalism, confidentiality, and accessibility.
Communicate promptly with our scheduling team regarding availability or technical issues.
Required Qualifications
Training and experience in CART, TypeWell, or comparable real-time captioning services.
Experience providing real-time captioning in higher education or classroom environments.
Strong listening skills and the ability to accurately caption Romanized Korean and English.
Excellent written English skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Understanding of communication access for d/Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students.
Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Reliable computer, high-speed internet, and familiarity with remote captioning platforms and software.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting college or university students.
Previous experience captioning foreign language coursework.
Familiarity with Korean language instruction or Romanization systems.
