Job Description:

  • Clinically interpret and evaluate physician medication orders for therapeutic appropriateness, cost effectiveness, accuracy, safety, and completeness
  • Perform computer order entry, labeling, and dispensing according to policies, procedures, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations
  • Initiate, review, and update documentation; communicate clinical and technical information to healthcare team members and patients
  • Work with product procurement and reimbursement teams on payor-specific formulary products and product availability
  • Participate in patient evaluation, product and device selection, and supply management
  • Coordinate medication preparation and delivery with admission teams and nursing agencies
  • Supervise pharmacy support personnel in sterile compounding, packaging, labeling, procurement, product utilization, and inventory management when assigned clean room responsibilities
  • Comply with USP 797 cleanroom policies and maintain quality assurance documentation
  • Maintain security of legend items and legally required records in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Comply with FDA mandates and manufacturer restrictions on particular drugs
  • Participate in performance improvement activities, educational programs, and departmental or branch meetings
  • Assist with training and orientation of new employees
  • Perform other assigned duties, including on-call responsibilities

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of experience in Clinical Pharmacy
  • Computer skills, including word processing, database, and spreheet programs
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations
  • Ability to write and present information to managers, patients, nurses, and physicians
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Active Pennsylvania pharmacy license in good standing
  • Must reside in Pennsylvania or Florida
  • Current licensed pharmacist in Pennsylvania
  • Willingness to obtain additional state pharmacist licenses, paid for by CVS
  • Experience in an IV alternative site environment preferred
  • BS in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited Pharmacy School
