The Clinical Account Executive serves as the strategic leader of an oncology territory, developing account plans, building healthcare customer relationships, applying clinical expertise, and executing business strategies to improve patient outcomes and achieve brand objectives.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive territory business plan aligned with brand strategy and local customer needs
Build trusted relationships with hematologists, oncologists, nurses, pharmacists, administrators, and key account stakeholders
Demonstrate deep scientific and clinical expertise while delivering compliant, customer-focused engagements
Partner effectively with cross-functional colleagues to deliver coordinated customer experiences
Continuously evaluate territory performance using data, customer insights, and business analytics to optimize execution
Maintain the highest standards of integrity, compliance, and professionalism in every customer interaction
Complete all AbbVie required training and maintain adherence to all company policies and OEC/Legal procedures
Continuously develop clinical, business, and leadership capabilities
An essential requirement of the position is to meet health care industry representative credentialing requirements to gain entry into facilities and organizations that are in assigned territory. These HCIR credentialing requirements may include, but are not limited to, background checks, drug screens, and proof of immunization/vaccination for various diseases
Skills
This role is field-based and candidates should live within the territory. This territory includes Oklahoma City, Wichita, Tulsa, Wichita Falls and the surrounding areas
5+ years sales experience in pharma/biotech, medical device, or diagnostics
SALES EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated history of delivering exceptional results through disciplined execution, accountability, and ownership
BUSINESS ACUMEN: Thinks strategically about customers, key accounts, and market dynamics to prioritize opportunities and maximize sustainable business impact across in-field teams
PURPOSEFUL EXECUTION: Consistently translates strategy into focused action, balancing urgency with discipline while executing with precision
LEARNING AGILITY: Rapidly learns complex scientific, clinical, and business concepts and confidently applies them in dynamic customer environments
COMMUNICATION: Simplifies complex clinical and business concepts into clear, compelling points
RESILIENCE: Demonstrates grit, adaptability, and persistence while maintaining a positive, solutions-oriented approach in a competitive environment
INTELLECTUAL CURIOSITY: Naturally seeks to understand the science, the customer, and the business beyond what is required
Oncology experience, preferably in hematologic malignancies
Desire and ability to take on larger roles faster than their peers
Competitive selling skills
Demonstrated ability to work within a highly collaborative, team environment
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Persistency and grit with strong track record of succeeding in a challenging environment
Driving a personal auto or company car or truck
Valid driver's license: Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
Business travel, by air or car, is regularly required
Preference for Oncology/Hematology experience
Oncology, Specialty, or other pharma experience
Bachelor's degree preferred
Account Management experience in any industry
Specialty Pharmacy experience
Healthcare industry experience, especially working with patients or consulting healthcare companies
People management or other leadership experience
MBA or other advanced degree
