Job Description:

  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field
  • Manage assigned territory and targeted accounts
  • Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales performance
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
  • Handle objections, concerns, and misunderstandings and gain calls to action to close sales calls
  • Serve customer needs and build trusted customer relationships
  • Develop and execute call plans to optimize customer coverage and sales opportunities
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales expertise
  • Share market intelligence with the in-field team, brand team, and sales manager
  • Differentiate AbbVie's value proposition with assigned healthcare providers
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
  • Travel approximately 20% of the time

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, pharmacy, business-related field, or equivalent
  • Proven track record of success in selling
  • Solid presentation skills
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
  • Strong business acumen
  • Proficient use of business tools
  • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
  • Ability to travel adequately to cover the territory, including overnight training events and sales meetings
  • Ability to drive a personal auto, company car or truck, or powered material-handling equipment
  • Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials, which may include background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting, and specific state or city licenses
  • Preferred: Proven sales performance within the respective therapeutic areas
  • Preferred: Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience, such as physician/account-based selling, training, managed healthcare, or marketing
